Happy 1st Birthday, Landon!!!! Birthday celebrations and lots more!

Happy 1st Birthday Landon!!!!!

Talk about a celebration. Landon got to celebrate his big ONE twice! First when we went to visit our parents in Niceville/Ft. Walton Beach and then when I was nanny-ing, my friend Ashley’s sister’s (Amy) two little girls.

Niceville/Ft. Walton

We went home to visit with Jon before he ships off to Afghanistan in November and for Josh to get the Niceville Thailand team started on some video editing projects. Since we were already visiting and it was so close to Landon’s birthday, we decided to have a birthday party for him. We had a great weekend visiting with our family and Josh spent some of the time meeting with the team.

We invited all of Landon’s local family to his party which included my parents, my brother, my aunt uncle and cousin plus Josh’s parents, brothers, and sister (unfortunately Jessica didn’t get to come down from Missouri). We had it at the Children’s Park in Niceville which is right next to the building where Josh and I had our wedding reception. We set up under one of the gazebos. I was so worried we would get rained out because the whole weekend was suppose to have rain, plus it was very overcast about an hour (30min before the party started!) after I decided not to change the location. Thankfully we didn’t get any rain and we were even able to enjoy the lovely grass lawn.

I have always looked forward to the day when I could make cakes for my children. My mom always made homemade decorated cakes for me and my brother and loved them. I got very ambitious for my first decorated cake. I thought a train theme would be fun for Landon since he likes cars, trucks, and trains a lot. So I wanted to make a train cake for Landon, but I didn’t stop at making it difficult for my self there. I asked Brandi my cake baking expert friend how to make the yummy marshmallow fondant she made for my baby shower duck pond cake. I also made my cream cheese frosting too. Well, the cake turned out pretty good for my first try although it looked much cooler in my head! Plus boy did I make a mess!!!!! It was not easy making it but I sort of had fun doing it and Josh and my mom I think got a good laugh out of my mess. When the time came to “blowing out” the candles Landon had help from the wind. He had a little bite but he isn’t much of a sweets guy most of the time. I enjoyed eating it along with everyone else which taste is really the most important part, I think.

Landon didn’t get the unwrapping presents at first but as soon as I think he realized that is what we wanted him to do he went at it. It was awesome seeing his face light up once he had torn enough of the paper off to see what was inside! He love surprises, well being surprised by Dad or Mom when we seek up on him around the corner (which by the way he now hides from us and seeks up on us and yells when he sees us, it is too cute! He even actually snuck up on Josh once!). He has been really enjoying all of his presents since his birthday!

After we were done with the party, the splash park opened up that is apart of the Children’s park. I didn’t even know they had that there. Landon had so much fun! He looks a little silly though because since I didn’t know it was there I didn’t bring a swim diaper and he just walked around in a VERY droopy disposable! He liked the little water things the best. I think the big splash were a bit too much for him. He was soo tired after everything but I know he loved seeing all of his family, eating the yummy food, opening presents, playing with his new toys and in the splash park.

Thank you so much everyone for all the help I couldn’t have done it with out you!!!, Mom and Dad with the food and cake, Josh with the decorating and cake, Jon for watching Landon, Jamiie Jo, Dad W. and Sally for decorating!

Time for cake!!!

Presents!!!

Even Reesie enjoyed his presents

Boy that water is cool.

Landon next birthday celebration was sadly without Daddy but we still had fun. Landon and I went to Jacksonville for a week to nanny. We took care of a 2 month old and 5 year old.

I was a little nervous about Landon not doing well with Mommy’s attention not 100% for him but he did so great! He would pat her head, sing to her, bring her toys and put his head in her lap. I was so proud of him, I think he is going to make an awesome big brother some day!!! Landon’s favorite part I think of the whole trip was the walks out to the bus stop. We had to put Brilei on the bus and pick her up from the bus everyday so I loaded up the babies, Prieslii (not sure if I spelled the girls names right) in the sling and Landon in his stroller.

On Landon’s birthday, Landon first birthday celebrating was Brilei and Mommy singing “Happy Birthday” while we were waiting for the bus. He loved it. Amy was sweet enough to make Landon a birthday brownie even though she got home 2 hours late that evening. After dinner we all sang “Happy Birthday” and had birthday brownie. Landon seems too enjoy it. Before he went to bed I gave him a little present Josh and I had bought for him, a puzzle with cars and other vehicles on it.

Good Morning, Mom!

Sharing his toys

So Mom I am going to climb our suitcase.

Birthday brownie

Mom, I just woke up why are you flashing that camera at me!

Cooking up some lunch

I think he is trying to touch his tongue to his nose, Grandpa Gorman can do it!

Looking under things, another new things he does

I think over all he had a great birthday celebration! It is still hard to believe he is already one. He is doing so much and we just get delight more and more everyday with all the new things he can do.

Heres a list of some the new things he can do

Roars like a lion (he does this when he plays with his lion)

Point to the parts of someone’s face and sometimes his own

Kisses to call the cats or dog (which is how we call them)

Climb into the tub (which is not a good thing all the time!)

Climb on things (again not always a good thing)

Put lids on and off

Makes ramps for his cars

Recognizes a lot of words and will get them or point to them when you say them

Car

Cat

Dog

Parts of the face –nose, moth, eyes, and ears

Landon’s bedroom

Bathroom

Outside

Leaf

stick

Kitchen

Cow

Pig

Farmer Jed (he got a fisher price farm for his birthday from Grandma and Grandpa Gorman)

Moon

And I am sure some others

He can sign

Milk, more, finished, bath, eat, play (kinda), fan (sometimes)

He can now take the travel tooth brush holder apart

and put it back together!

We went to the Doctor this week and his stats are

Weight: 19 lbs 13 oz (25-30%)

Height: 31.5 inchs (75%)

Head Circum. 75% (didn’t get the inches)

Happy Birthday Landon!!! We love you so much!!!!
